Analyzing the Crash Probabilities for Intersections
Topic and Goal of the Thesis
Automated driving is intended to make traffic safer. This must be investigated during the development of new driving functions. Both accident scenarios and regular scenarios are considered. Since these usually come from different data sets, the actual ratio of accident scenarios to regular scenarios is not given. This must be determined in order to enable a holistic safety assessment.
Working Points
- Literature research on safety impact assessment for automated driving and driving scenarios in this context
- Analysis of traffic counting station data and accident data in conjunction with OpenStreetMap data
- Design and implementation of the methodology and exemplary application to an intersection scenario
- Documentation of the results
Requirements
- Good English or German language skills
- Reliability, commitment and enjoyment of working independently
- Experience with Python
