Development of a battery box system made from bio-based plastic

Topic and Goal of the Thesis

The political guidelines on sustainability and the focus on electric vehicles (EVs) have heightened awareness of sustainable production and recycling methods in the automotive industry. In particular, battery box systems, key components of electric vehicles, need to be designed in an environmentally friendly way and recycled efficiently.

The goal of this work is to tackle these challenges with alternative materials and to investigate the special features of bio-based fiberreinforced plastics for structural elements.

It is also possible to co-author a publication.

Working Points

  • Research production & recycling processes for fiber-reinforced plastic
  • Design of a battery box system
  • Fundamental structural design of the battery box system
  • Analysis of the relevant boundary conditions for the use of biobased plastics in the battery box

Requirements

  • Reliability, commitment and enjoy working independently
  • Basic mechanical understanding
  • Experience in CAX software
