The street as a stage: Development of a scenario director for traffic agents
Topic and Goal of the Thesis
The safety of automated vehicles is a key focus of modern mobility research and requires innovative testing and validation approaches. Scenario-based testing offers a promising framework for this: the road becomes a stage on which various traffic situations are staged in order to simulate and test the behavior of vehicles. A key challenge is to arrange and combine different scenarios in such a way that a comprehensive test repertoire is created.
The aim of this thesis is to develop a “scenario director” that converts any initial situation into defined starting positions for test scenarios. In doing so, it is important to take into account various boundary conditions, particularly with regard to vehicle and driver models, and to find creative ways to orchestrate new scene constellations.
Working Points
- Analysis of existing methods for combining scenarios in scenario-based testing
- Development of an approach to achieve the starting condition while complying with various constraints
- Evaluation of the developed approach using example scenarios
Requirements
- Good knowledge of German or English
- Independent and structured working style
- Programming experience is an advantage
