Automotive Engineering II – Vertical and Lateral Dynamics of Vehicles
The course provides deep knowledge regarding driving comfort and stability during cornering of modern vehicles based on state-of-the-art methodologies and examples from the latest technology of the automotive industry. In addition to the solid theoretical background, the course provides a rich set of practically oriented tasks with various difficulty for promoting critical thinking and problem solving. The course content is divided in two major modules covering the fundamentals of vertical and lateral vehicle dynamics with the corresponding system components.
Learning Outcomes
- After completing the course, students are able to analyse vehicle driving behaviour in terms of vertical and lateral dynamics using various modelling approaches.
- After completing the course, students are able to evaluate the influence of the construction, properties and design criteria of suspension and steering systems on driving behaviour.
- After completing the course, students are able to develop innovative suspension and steering system concepts.
