SET Level

Simulation based development and testing of automated driving

The project SET Level addresses the simulation-based development and testing of Level 4 and 5 vehicles for urban areas. Numerical simulation methods will be further developed and new mechanisms for model coupling will be designed and implemented. In addition, models are selectively developed which, in addition to the correct behaviour, also adequately represent an expected non-normative behaviour in the system environment. Furthermore, important method- and tool-oriented building blocks for efficiently designed simulation-based test and release procedures are delivered.

Particular challenges lie in balancing requirements on the accuracy of models and their integration capability with other models or real system components (e.g. test benches or driving simulations) and in making these formally comprehensible and quantifying them.

Funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, 19 reputable partners from industry and research have been working together on this research project for three and a half years.
