Commercial vehicles in comparison combustion engine vs. electric motor
Motivation
- Fleet trials of electric vehicles are conducted in many national and international model regions
 - In previous fleet trials, the comparison of different drive concepts (internal combustion, electric vehicle) is however missing, especially regarding Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis
 - In the purchasing decision for commercial vehicles, the total cost of ownership (TCO) are the within the focus of the customers
 - The benefits of modern quick charging technology for the utilization/TCO of commercial vehicles questionable and currently under research

Project objectives
- Economically relevant knowledge about the use of electric vehicles in industries with predictable routes compared to the combustion engine
 - Understanding of the effectiveness and practicality of quick charging technology
 - Development of operation concepts and a tool for calculating the TCO in order to facilitate the purchase decision for fleet operators
 - Derivation of recommendations for industry and politics
