BüLaMo Münsterland

Joint project citizen lab for a mobile Münsterland

The BüLaMo project (joint project "Bürgerlabor Mobiles Münsterland") aims to increase the use of public transport services in the Münsterland. Since a real mobility alternative to the private car has been lacking up to now, especially in rural areas, and previous research has mostly focused on individual local challenges, this project aims to develop a holistic and flexible mobility concept. In this concept, different approaches such as fast mobility axes, on-demand solutions as well as expanded mobility stations are to be combined appropriately to develop rural Münsterland area and thus increase the attractiveness of public transport. The focus is on the citizens with their needs and requirements for a flexible mobility concept.

In order to achieve the goal of an integrated and customer-centred public transport system, the project partners are expected to develop a variety of solution modules. First, an analysis of the existing mobility system in the region of Münsterland will be carried out and the results will be used to derive optimisation options. The development of a new rapid bus system with alternative drives and the establishment of mobile stations as public transport hubs serve the goal of opening up the rural Münsterland area. Additionally, optimised on-demand systems are to be developed around these mobile stations.
In addition to the development of a multimodal transport network, the attractiveness of public transport is be increased through comfort and time savings by means of intelligent traffic control. Furthermore, the development of a new fare structure as well as a mobility app, which enables the booking of a multimodal route chain, is planned.

The ika is responsible for the scientific monitoring of the project. In particular, the acceptance of new mobility concepts is to be surveyed.
